Our students are talented, creative, and engaging individuals who come from a range of diverse backgrounds and share a passionate interest in architecture. Our students are leaders on campus and involved in the community. The School of Architecture supports a range of vibrant and active student organizations that provide leadership experiences and expand upon classroom learning. Every year a number of our students are recognized in national and international competitions; all our students are highly sought-after by employers.

In 1873 Nathan Clifford Ricker graduated from the University of Illinois with the first degree in architecture granted by an American University. After studying in Europe, he returned to the University to formally establish a Department of Architecture.
