Professor Aminmansour’s areas of interest include structural steel design as well as sustainability impact of tall buildings. He developed the formulas and table included in Part Six (Combined Forces) of the Steel Construction Manual published by the American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC). Professor Aminmansour is a member of the AISC’s Committee on Manuals which is responsible for the technical contents of the AISC’s Steel Construction Manual and the Seismic Manual. His involvement in the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH) includes membership on the Editorial Board of the International Journal of High-Rise Buildings (IJHRB) and CTBUH Expert Peer Review Committee. He is the current Vice Chair of the Chicago Committee on High Rise Buildings (CCHRB). In addition, he serves on the Tall Buildings Technical Committee of the Structural Engineering Institute (SEI) of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE). Professor Aminmansour is honored to have been selected as a consultant (worked with Prof. Mir Ali) by the international artists Christo and Jeanne-Claude on their United Arab Emirates Mastaba project. Professor Aminmansour is the Chair of the Illinois Board of Higher Education (IBHE) Faculty Advisory Council (FAC).
March 25, 2015: Professor Aminmansour receives 2014 AISC Special Achievement Award for his paper titled "A New Approach for Design of Steel Beam-Colunns" published in the AISC's Engineering Journal. This was the first in a series of papers by Professor Aminmansour that led to the development of tables and formulas for design of structural steel members subject to combined loads included in Part Six of the AISC's Steel Construction Manual.
