Associate Professor Paul Kapp has been awarded the 2017 James Marston Fitch Mid-Career Fellowship through the Center for Advanced Study. The James Marston Fitch Charitable Foundation awards one or two fellowships each year to midcareer professionals who have the academic background, professional experience and an established reputation in historic preservation, architecture, landscape architecture, urban design, environmental planning, architectural history or the decorative arts.

2017 GRADUATE OPEN HOUSE
You are invited to attend the Graduate Open House of the School of Architecture at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign on Friday, March 31, 2017 at 12:00pm in the Temple Buell Architecture Gallery.
Come learn about the programs and facilities of the School and visit graduate design studio in progress later in the afternoon. The Open House will include an overview of the graduate program including our dual degrees, a student panel and tour of the School’s facilities.
Thulasi Ram Khamma, a Doctoral student working with Associate Professor Mohamed Boubekri at the Illinois School of Architecture, was awarded national-level Environmental Defense Fund Climate Corps (EDF CC) Fellowship for the Summer 2017. As a EDF CC Fellow, Ram would be working at the JPMorgan Chase Headquarters in New York City. His role will be to support JPMorgan Chase’s Global Real Estate, Energy and Sustainability team on initiatives related to three major buckets of work: energy project analysis and advocacy, sustainability research and energy sustainability standards.

The Student Sustainability Committee, which allocates over $1.1 million each year to sustainable projects on campus, has recommended that the School of Architecture’s Root to Roof initiative receive $94,750 in funding, pending final administrative approval. Once fully executed, this funding will allow integration of locally harvested wood into the School’s design studio and seminar activities.
